Day 12

Well today was an alright day I gotta say. Played a bit, but no too much.

Spent a lot of time playin with my daughter and watching movies/tv with the wife. Played in a few games here and there but nothing major. Played to privates and sucked in them both, played a few 18 man games and did alright, taking 1st in one. Played in a couple of K.O. tourny's placing in 1. My best game of the night was the $5 HA tourny in which I finished 5th. All in all it was a decent night.

Uploaded some vids and watched a few, didn't read anything today, just wasn't feeling it. Still have quite a bit of Joe Navarro's book to read. Very interesting book, recommend it to anyone looking to play live.

Been a few

Well it's been a few days since my last post, damn thos long work days!!!!!!!!!!
Got to say poker wasn't to friendly to me when I played after work, nothing ever seemed to fall my way. Out of 6 games I made a minor cash in one, that really didn't help me none.

Wed. turned out to be an alright day for me. It's my first night off this week. I got up early to play in a few games, RMR, PR game, FR. The RMR was up first and again I remember why I hate limit hold em'. I just can't seem to get things to go my way and raising just seems pointless as you'll always seem to get 4 or more callers! Needless to say I didn't do well in that game.

The PR game was next, and that whole game I was shortstack 99% of the time, but I managed to squeeze out a 2nd place finish taking a nice lil payday with me :D

The FR came up and it was HORSE. I've been getting better at that game, I just tend to not play during the holdem part, lol. 97 got ITM and with 140 left I was sitting pretty good, but I had to leave and go to the store to get food. So I left, did what I had to do then came back. By the time I got back up here I was out, but I finished 39th!!! lmao

Played a few $2 games that didn't go well, and 1 $3 K.O. game in which I finished 7th.

I did a lot of studying this week and a lot of watching vids. Didn't do any of that tonight, but I will tomorrow.

Ending BR: $732.84

Day 6 in the bag

Well today started super early for me. Got about 3 hours of sleep before being woken up to run around doing errands. Cool though I got out the house and got to watch my lil girl play with other kids in the mall. It was too cute.

Got home just in time to take a nap and enter a few private games. All and all I didn't do too bad, at least I can say I got my money in with the best hand, lol. Did have a great comback in one game though coming back from 180 chips to 25k to finish 4th, and I did that on the final table! lol

Played in a few 18 man games and managed modest cashes, nothing to scream about. Last game of the night for me was a $3 K.O. game where my AK lost to Q9, I mean how could you ever fold Q9off to a raise from UTG? What was I thinking? Sometimes I wonder what the hell goes through peoples minds, but I've given up trying to figure it all out. I honestly think they just have no clue. They listen to the forum pro's who tell them that all the books and crap are just that and the only true way to learn the game is to just keep playing and playing. However, that only takes you so far.

Well I'm out for the day, I managed a couple of vids and a few pages of reading, but failed miserably in that aspect of my preperation today.

Day 5 of the Quest

Well today started like most of my days where I actually have time to play poker. I got up just in time to enter into a couple of private tournaments and fish around for a Pro or two to join up in Protection money. Man I tell ya, fulltilt sure is something else. I got my chat banned for like 10 min for asking pro's to join me in a private game. I guess they consider it spamming the table. What I find funny is, that I once asked fulltilt what was the best way to get a pro into a private game and talk to them and their exact answer was "The best way to engage a pro is to find them at the tables and either sit and play with them or engage the through observer chat. If you wish them to play in a private game then ask them at the tables." Now I do exactly that and they ban my chat for 10 min? lmao what a joke.

So anyways, on to the games of the day, lol. Well my first 2 games I played quite well. However, as usual something just doesn't go my way. In protection money we are 1 from the final table blind 200/400 I think, and I'm sitting with about 3.8k when I pick up AK in middle position. It's folded to me and I do what I'm supposed to do, I push all in. It's folded around to the BB who will have to risk everything but 400 chips to call, and of course he calls wth A6 off. Flop came J6J and the rest didn't matter for me I was gone with no money :(

In the villadiego things went a little better, my AK didn't get busted by A/rag until after I made the money, lol.

I'll never understand how people can risk entire stacks on A/rag just cuz someone pushes all in. I've been seeing more and more of that lately, especially in private games and it's just bad poker if you ask me.

Well after those two games it was time to head downstairs and hang with the family for a bit. We watched some t.v. and did some other things here and there. Then next thing I know everyone but me is asleep, lol. Back to poker I guess.

The rest of the night went alright, placed ITM in quite a few, not making a ton, but a profit none the less. Spent some time watching Daniel Negreanu on Small Ball poker, need to watch and rewatch those. Just a lot of good good info there.

So I look back at where I started this week $575 and today's ending BR: $610.33
and I see that I'm about $27 short of where I need to be at this tme. Considering some of the set backs I had this week it's not bad, but I definately need to improve on that, and obviously I now have some catching up to do.

Day 4 of the Quest

Well I got up and watched a few vids from PokerVT then got right into playing. Things started off pretty well actually I final table 3 of my first 4 games getting ITM in 2 of them 1 of which I won. So it appeared as if today was gonna go off without a hitch, alas fulltilt hates me!!! lol

Took a break after my first 4 games went down and spent some time with the family. Watched some ghost hunters international and a few other shows. Did a few observation type exercises that Joe Navarro talks about in "Read em' and Reap", other than that didn't do much else.

Came back up to get back to poker and that's when Fulltilt decided to rain on my parade. Everything just fell wrong I went out of no less than 5 games where after the turn I was a 85%+ favorite. I was starting to tilt so hard. I mean how often can one get their hand in way ahead and still manage to lose? For me sometimes it seems like everytime!

Decided I was going to play 2 last games, a $3 K.O. game and a $2 18 man game. Well when the smoke cleared I finished 2nd in the $3 K.O. game and took home the gold in the $2 18 man game!!!! Woot, I'm heading in the right direction it seems.

Bad Bad Day

Well today was a very bad day for poker. It seemed as though nothing went right. Just runner runner after runner runner.

Got sucked out on in 3 str8 sit n go's so I decided to try my luck at the cash tables. Wow what a collosal fk up that was. Things were worse for me there.

Finally started to get some luck placing 5th in a $3 K.O. and some other small cashes, but over all down for the week :(

Gonna get some rest and do some reading and reviewing when I get up, see if I could have done some things different.

Step in the wrong direcetion for sure, but sometimes we have to step back to go forward. Until tomorrow!!!!!

Day 2 of my quest

So I spent a good portion of the night reading over some articles and watching some educational videos for online poker and such. Got of work and played a few games. Didn't go to well as for some reason nothing really seemed to click.

Didn't get much sleep today as I had to get up early. I had tickets to the Fiesta Bowl to watch Texas beat Ohio St. :D Oh that was a great game to watch.

Got back home and again nothing really seemed to click and I just couldn't get a hand to hold, so I entered my last game for the night a $3.30 K.O. game and finally hands started to hold and I started to hit a flop or two. Enough so that I finally reached a final table, albeit pretty short stacked but still. Well when the smoke cleared I ended up finishing in 3rd place, and adding a lil to my BR!!!!!!

So now I'm gonna watch a few training video's then get some sleep. Catch you all tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things to do in preperation

I have 6 months to get ready for the WSOP. With that there are some things I need to do.

1) Get the money together to be able to play at least 1 event.
- I'd like to be able to do this completely with my online BR, so given what I have I will need to average a $12.50 a day profit in order to be able to withdraw enough for a buy in and still leave enough to rebuild my online BR.

2) My live game needs work. I don't get to play a lot live out here so I will need to find a way to play more. At the very least I'd like to average 1 live tourny a month until June rolls around.
- I have a few books I need to read that I think will definately help me with live play so I will need to finish reading "read em' and reap" as well as reread the "Harrington on Hold em" series.

3) I would like to dedicate at least 2 hours a day to just studying poker. Whether that's reading, watching training video's, reviewing hand histories or whatever I don't care. I just need to block off a chunk of time and dedicate it to that.

Well that's all I can think of for now and I will keep this up to date wtih my progress and setbacks over the next few months.

Starting Fulltilt BR: $575
